<p style="text-align:justify;"><span id="result_box" lang="es">El manuscrito tuvo originalmente interés debido a que contenía un fragmento de «Ciudad de Dios» de San Agustín, <span class="cursiva">Armando Antoelli</span> publicó un primer análisis y su interpretación proporcionó la datación original. Durante el análisis paleográfico posterior realizado por los estudiosos<span class="cursiva"> Magdalena Modesti y Annafelicia Zuffrano,</span> se descubrió que el fragmento latino era era en realidad un palimpsesto con una inscripción anterior en </span> lengua gótica.<br />
<span class="cursiva">Finazzi y Tornaghi</span><span class="a"> han bautizado al texto gótico con el nombre, </span><span class="negrita">Gothica Bononiensia</span><span class="a">, el lugar donde se encontró el fragmento: la Basílica de San Petronio en Bolonia. </span>El texto ha sido transcrito con una traducción al italiano. Un análisis lingüístico y filológico proporciona información en profundidad sobre el texto, su origen y fecha, seguido por el examen de los pasajes bíblicos identificados que se comparan con las versiones griega y latina con el fin de poner de relieve concurrencias y divergencias<br />
<span class="a">Desde una perspectiva lingüística, uno de los aspectos más interesantes del descubrimiento es el hallazgo de palabras que hasta ahora no se hallaban debidamente atestiguadas. formas de palabras que sólo habían sido reconstruidas teóricamente por los lingüistas:</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><span class="a">El fragmento contiene una serie de pasajes bíblicos que corresponden al Antiguo y Nuevo Testamento. Los autores especulan que la existencia de referencias tanto al nuevo como al antiguo testamento halladas en el mismo documento tal vez podría constituir el marco de una homilía preparada por algún prelado arriano, posiblemente cercano a la corte. Dado que algunos de los pasajes también se encuentran en la Biblia de Wulfilas , se necesitan más estudios para poder afirmar si estos pasajes góticos podrían haber provenido de traducciones basadas en fuentes independientes griegas o latinas, si esto fuera así nos encontraríamos que los Godos podrian haber realizado mas de una traducción de la Biblia a su idioma vernáculo, eso sí, en su época arriana, concretamente durante el reinado de </span><span class="negrita">Teodorico el Grande</span></p>
